Today I sewed a bunch of panels and also had a chance to work on some fiber art. Here are two pieces I am preparing for the show that opens April 1st. The reception is April 3rd. I'll send pictures. Preparing the show will be the topic of the blog after I finish the silk velvet.
See you Monday.

the fiber art is divine! love the palette too :) it looks like colorful dreads :) but combed
Oh gosh, can I ever identify with the hot flash thing. Is that silk velvet? It's gorgeous!
Organized chaos is what my life is all about.
Yes, silk velvets. The bright velvet is something we make in the shibori dyeing class I teach at Quilt University (www.quiltuniversity). It's coming up April 10th as a matter of fact.
The backing is dupion silk and the yellow splats of fabric are dupion soaked in Paverpol so they are very stiff and scratchy.
There are threads hanging and I jammed on the machine leaving big gaps and pulls and this piece breaks all the rules that the Quilting Cops are looking for. I loath the Quilting Cops. I purposely do stuff to make the Quilting Cops freak out. Quilting Cops are arrogant and mean spirited. They are everywhere. They should get their eye full with this baby.
I wondered how you made the yellow splats. The center one looks like a figure to me. Anyway, good use for that Paverpol.
Wow! To think that the Shibori class will dye velvet. How many yds are in Hot Flash?
Hummm....well, one entire panel that had terribly uneven spots (I wasn't paying attention while doing that round)was used for the purple and that is 4 yards and the shibori section is only about 3/4 yard.
I'd forgotten that originally you had purple velvet behind/amongst the shibori dyed sections! Beautiful.
