Good morning. Just sent off the next 20 yards of this blue and white cotton to my quilt artist customer who orders 40 yards at a time of this discharged sky fabric. She uses it for the background of her humorous and whimsy art quilts that she shows and sells all over the country. Today I will start the next batch. It's fairly labor intensive as I dye all 20 yards at one time and then do the discharging the next day. Poops me out but it pays well.
I heard from the California Fiber Artists and they accepted me into the group! I am very honored to be associating with this circle of women who are actively showing their work not only state wide but nationally as well. All of the fiber art that I submitted is pictured on this blog. I started with "She Spilled Her Guts" and moved right into the spray painted shirt and pants called "Joel" to the gutta resist piece and then on to Hiroshima. I'll let you know when there is something on their web site to see.
Do a happy dance with me!

Congratulations! Your news is exciting. Keep those ideas flowing. Lovely sky fabric. Do you use the same sort of cloud formation every time or do you have gray cloudy day fabric or thunderstorm day fabric. Does your client ever specify what kind of clouds she wants? That could make the job a major challenge.
Wow such great news today! I so hope that I'll be able to see some of your work in person locally. Happy dance, happy dance!

czczlWooooo-Hooooo! Wooooo-Hooooo!
I hate to say it but...I told you so. Congratulations!!
Can you hear the thunder from Downunder? That's the sound of my happy dance.
You women are so gracious and kind.
Carolyn-she only wants blue sky with puffy white clouds for the entire 40 yards. This can be boring but I try to find ways to keep it amusing...which reminds me I have to go stir. Back in a minute...yes, she did tell me what kind of clouds she wanted and how she wanted them placed and what kind of a pattern which is difficult since the technique I use doesn't allow me to SEE where I have just placed the discharge stuff until about 2 minutes have passed at which point I go back and apply more discharge stuff to the "holes". Tricky stuff but I have been making this for her for a few years so I have it choreographed out pretty well as to how I do this.
Bognar-I have applied to another national group so you just might see something one of these days. I'll know about that one mid March.
Anna- yes, you did tell me so and yes, I had to grab my coffee mug to keep it from sliding off the desk when you started the happy dance. Nice leg work!!!!
I am so happy for you Marjie, but I had no doubts that you weren't going to make my dear friend..hugs, Lorraine
Marjie......I am a SAQA girl but two of my friends are CFA....Carol Larson from here in Petaluma and Debra Hosler from Rocklin is my SAQA mentor. You will love the group.
