Today, I did my usual routine beginning with Bible reading, tea, prayer, and then checking the email, answering email, taking orders, checking in with my QU students, checking the blog, admiring the clean up work that Myrna did for me here so I don't look like such a beginner... and then went to an art gallery with our daughter who came home for a brief visit from college. Here she is in front of the gallery.
I had some big supply orders today. Once again most of it is going north across the border to Canada along with some thread Myrna needed. This means standing in line... one of these days you will meet our awesome mail carrier Norma. When I have packages that stay in the US she takes them right from the front porch for me so I can avoid the lines. This picture below contains 90 yards of Aurora muslin. That should keep some people happy for a little while.
Okay so I get there and it's not busy today at the Post Office. I was able to walk right up to the window with my stuff. This is Ana. She was hoping the picture would make her look thin. It does.
While I was taking pics, I decided to get Luz's picture too as she also handles your packages. She used to yell at me when I would try and turn the Priority Mail bags inside out and use them for over seas orders. Now I just buy the ding dang bags and send them the correct way so I don't have to go to prison. If anyone was going to turn me in for mail fraud it would be this gal right here. She was hoping the picture would make her look taller. It doesn't.

Back home, I start a hand dyed silk velvet order for a Christmas banner that will be used as "yard art". I have a long silk banner that hangs in front of my house that I will show you tomorrow when I take you on a tour of my dye studio. This piece will get covered with plastic and sit in the dye over night. I will do the rest tomorrow. Silk velvet is the BEST thing to dye. Soaks the colors up like a sponge and has a silver sheen to it that is magical.

Time to take daughter to the train station. See you at Thanksgiving!

Not too busy for me today which is good as I needed a day to rest a bit and regroup. This is not the busy season for FabricDesigns.com but you are still getting a feel for what I do in a day and I hope it isn't boring. Tomorrow I will be rinsing out the silk velvet and sewing it and hopefully delivering it to its home. Want to come with me? Wait until you see the yard this art piece is going to live in...fabulous place. I have a large order of silk scarves I need to dye tomorrow as well so you can look forward to seeing that process and I will give you a tour of my dye studio.
Happy dyeing!

Marjie, It is very refreshing to read your blog each day. I wish I could stay at home and work/play, but unfortunately my 8-5 job interfers with what I want to do. I have been waiting since late April to work on my Quilters Pallate lesson, and still haven't got around to it. Maybe this winter!!!!
Keep up the good work, but also take time to smell the roses!!!!
