Day Three - A Week at FabricDesigns.com

Slow day today. This will give me time to work on two pieces that I want to do for myself and just for the sake of making art. Days like this don't come along very often so when they do it's like the first day of summer vacation! Dog #3 decided to come up and help me work. Amazing what we allow our animals to do... in fact, I'm surprised I'm even showing you this scene.

The piece I am making for fun now has about 6 rows completed. I estimate about 30 more rows to go. Wonder how close to reality this number will be. I could do the math but then it would be too much like work. It is mind numbing work and I can listen to talk radio as I play. I will take a picture tomorrow of the small one I made so you can see where I am going with this piece.

Next project is a piece that really has me intrigued. I was contacted by a woman (email) who is asking fiber artists all across the country to make a square (36x36) that will be made into a humongous quilted cover for a real live GAS STATION somewhere in the mid west. The gas station is closed now and an eye sore so she decided to take this project on as a master's in textiles project.

The piece is due in early March so I used this down time today to start sketching out my square. Theme: our dependency on foreign oil. This is going to be good. I'll keep you posted as to how it is going. It's going to be 3 dimensional and exposed to the elements and may go on tour so it has to be sturdy. What a hoot. How can I pass this up? Can't.

See you tomorrow.

Welcome to the world of blogging! I have enjoyed reading your blog and bookmarked it so I can visit with you again. I'd love to have your studio. Mine's a good size at 530 sq ft, but 900 would be even better.

I love your breakfast setting in the previous post.
Just a question! what's that toilet roll doing on your sewing table?

Wow!!!! Good eyes! I thought I'd moved that thing! OKay here's the deal....along with all my stuff, our daughter has a lot of HER stuff down here behind the black curtain in "never-never land". She took that TP out to take it back to her apartment and it didn't make it into the car so I keep moving it around and around the studio. That's so funny! I probably moved it 6 times today so it wouldn't be in any of the pictures.
